Welcome to our traditional, old-fashioned pub bar. We invite you to find a comfortable spot and enjoy a drink from our carefully selected menu, which includes local ales, craft beers, and a superb choice of wines and sparkling options from around the world.
Our spirit selection is a connoisseur's delight, with a special focus on locally distilled East Sussex gins.
Beyond serving great drinks, our main bar is a place for community connection, regularly hosting popular quiz nights and charity events.
Our Food
At Ye Olde Smugglers Inne, food is more than just a meal; it’s a celebration of tradition, community, and the best of Sussex produce. Led by our Head Chef Darren Sandalls, who brings over 30 years of kitchen experience, our menus honour classic pub cooking while embracing the seasons of the South Downs.
From hearty pub favourites and relaxed weekday lunches to our much-loved Sunday Roast dinners, every dish is prepared with care using fresh, locally sourced ingredients.
We proudly work with trusted Sussex suppliers to bring you quality meat, fish, and vegetables that reflect the time of year and the landscape around us.
Sundays at The Smugglers are all about a proper roast. Our traditional Sunday lunches are a firm favourite with locals and visitors alike, served with all the classic trimmings, with crisp roast potatoes, seasonal vegetables, rich gravy, and carefully prepared meats. It’s the perfect way to round off a countryside walk or gather family and friends around the table.
Due to their popularity, Sunday roasts are often busy, and we always recommend booking ahead.
